We Stand With the Black Lives Matter Movement
On behalf of the Albany Damien Center Board of Directors and Executive Team, we would like to be clear in stating that we stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and its fight for justice and equality for all. We align ourselves against white supremacy, institutional racism, and the mistreatment of people of color everywhere. In doing so, we acknowledge that people of color in this country have been mistreated, oppressed, abused, and underserved. It is beyond time to implement permanent change in policies, laws and our justice system.
We understand that this is a traumatizing and emotion-evoking time for our staff, tenants, volunteers, members, and our community at-large. We would like you to know that we are working together to determine ways that we can continue to be a resource center helping to improve health, reduce stress and increase the quality of life for all connected to the Albany Damien Center.
The Albany Damien Center is committed to leading by example and has zero tolerance for racism or any other form of discrimination. In the upcoming days and weeks, we will be working with staff and local community agencies to explore ways to affect long-lasting change.
The time is NOW for us all to take action to heal and strengthen our communities and we commit to being a voice for needed change!
