World AIDS Day is December 1, 2021

DONATE
First observed in 1988, organizations and individuals across the world bring attention to the HIV epidemic, endeavor to increase HIV awareness and knowledge, speak out against HIV stigma, and call for an increased response to move toward Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America.

On June 29, 2014 Governor Cuomo outlined a three-point plan to move us closer to the end of the AIDS epidemic in New York State, with the goal of achieving the first ever decrease in HIV prevalence in NYS by the end of this year. Learn more about New York State's efforts here.

The New York Capital Region NAMES Project is a program of the Albany Damien Center. The primary mission of the New York Capital Region NAMES Project is to use the AIDS Memorial Quilt to provide HIV prevention education.  The Quilt provides a creative means for remembrance and healing, and it has proven to increase public awareness by illustrating the enormity of the AIDS epidemic. Each year, during World AIDS Day events, panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt are displayed to remember and celebrate those lost to the AIDS pandemic. This year's display is being hosted virtually.

This year, the New York Capital Region Names Project is displaying eight quilts. Here is a list of organizations and individuals recognized and remembered on each quilt panel by quilt (block) and panel numbers:
