PAWS (Pets are Wonderful Support) provides task, financial, and informational assistance to pet owners living with HIV and AIDS to ensure that they are not separated from their animal companions when they need each other the most.
In 2020, 96 clients and 100 pets received PAWS services, 10,000 lbs of pet food, litter, and treats were distributed, $5,328 pet care bills were paid, and 47 pets received care through our 2 wellness clinics. 154 deliveries of food and supplies were made to members between April and December 2020 to ensure the needs of our members' pets were met. In total for 2020 throughout the pandemic, 592 services were provided to pets and our members!
PAWS volunteers provide our members with:
In-home pet care when a client is ill
Dog walking, litter box changing, grooming, feeding
Food, supplies, and medical care for pets
Education through PAWS Safe Pet Guidelines
Transportation to vet and grooming services
Health and educational information, including "safe pet" guidelines for pet owners with HIV/AIDS
